Being a consumer of plant based foods has not been an identity of mine for all that long, but rather an on-going journey of achieving a healthy diet. For me, excluding meat from my diet has allowed me to make conscious choices about what I am putting into my body. It’s helped expand my knowledge with not only food but also our planet and human biology. I’ve had successes and failures. However, being vegetarian allows me to be free, to continue learning and growing, as well as connect with like-minded beings!
As far as the failures and successes are concerned.. by no means am I perfect! There are days that I “cheat,” because I do not completely restrict myself (that’s border lining an eating disorder!) Now by “cheating” I mean if there’s a dish that’s in front of me that’s made with a meat product- for example chili- and the meat is Turkey- sometimes I will make an exception to eat the chili, because it contains other vegetables and spices that still are beneficial to my health. In other words, I make a conscious decision as to wake I ingest.
A common question that I get is “So what do you eat?” That, to me, has been one of my biggest successes along the Vegetarian journey. It’s been exhilarating and excitingfinding new alternatives to meat, as well as finding new ways to cook with fruits and vegetables! Some of my favorite alternatives are falafel & quinoa burgers. One of the many reasons I love them is because of the crunchy texture (I’ll admit, I’m picky and person who doesn’t like mushy things!) Another favorite thing I’ve learned is the different vitamins and minerals plants contain, and how to substitute. For example, Vegetarians often struggle with their protein intake. One way I’ve found to make sure I’m getting my protein is by consuming avocados– which contains about 3 grams of protein. Another way is by eating nuts such as edamame & almonds.
With any new changes come the falls & hiccups. But what I’ve learned through making mistakes is that its all about balance- finding a way that benefits your mind, body, and spirit. Let’s face it, we are all relearning & expanding. One day, I hope to be 100% meat free, with no “cheat days,” more alternatives, more creative recipes. I’ve found success in meal prepping and grocery shopping for myself. Another goal I have is to shop-local & organic! Although I’ve been getting better at purchasing organic items, I know I am guilty of the “convenience” factor, especially when on-the- go. But I remain hopeful that one day I’ll be better at healthy eating, and maintaining good health. Cheers to the journey- to those either starting or are already on the Vegetarian path!
All life forms are made up of energy, anything that exists holds a different vibration.
Humans have 7 main energy systems, that work together
to stay balanced and keep a homeostasis state. Each chakra has an unique
vibration. It’s important to keep our chakras clear and balanced,
otherwise things such as disease and illness floods our lives.
Here is a little bit about the chakras:
Root Chakra: stability, grounding, survival, material world
Sacral Chakra: emotions & relationships, self-worth, creativity, sexual drive, empathy
Solar Plexus: metoabolism, self-esteem, happiness, energy, social identity
Heart Chakra: Love, Trust, Compassion, Forgiveness, Understanding
Throat Chakra: Expression, Listening, Communication, Writing, Speaking
Third Eye: Psychic abilities, Visions, Connection to higher self, Channeling
Crown Chakra: Consciousness, Cosmic Connection, Enlightenment, “God” Source
Who are they?
Spiritual beings who have come to teach us how to connect to our higher selves. They began being born around the 1970’s, but not all those born in this time are Indigo Children. These beings are born with knowing they are special, and have a hard time fitting in with the rest of society. They are confident, old souls that aren’t afraid to speak their Truth- Universal Truth. Another way to describe them are “system busters,” and also have a hard time with authoritative figures. Depression, addictions, and/or ADHD are common misdiagnosis. They are very intuitive/psychic that are surrounded by Angels, and also bond easily with other life forms such as animals and plants.
Why are they here?
They came to change the future, help guide others back to their inner self.
“Through their sensitivity to chemicals, processed foods, and authority, they are showing us what has to change in our world. They’re sensitive to so many things. An indigo child will tell you that we should not be using these detrimental chemicals if we truly loved our earth and each other.”
-Spiritual Growth Prophecies
This was where it all started.
I graduated high school in 2011, and made my way to a University studying Social Work. After a year I moved back home, even more unhealthy that I was before I left to first attend school. I weighed 275 pounds (highest recorded weight), battling depression and anxiety, and had no motivation or drive. I constantly felt “stuck.” But the thing was… I knew since I was a little girl, I HAD A PURPOSE TO BE HERE. Sick and tired of being sick and tired, I challenged myself and threw away the excuses, and began finding my happiness- MYSELF.
After my adventure of living in South Carolina, I again moved back ‘home’ to figure this life out. The gym was difficult to commit to because I had (still do) bad knees and a bad back. There was a few times I ended up in the doctors office with swollen, black and blue knees from pushing myself too hard. I felt doomed at times… But I didn’t give up.
I found yoga and meditation. This has been a practice of not only connecting with my inner self, but pushing my body in new ways. Now, my body craves doing yoga. I set time aside to sit on my mat, listen to music, and go with the flow. I breathe! Yoga has been a workout that I’ve been able to stick with, and I’m grateful for it.
I also began drinking water, EVERYDAY. I was never one “addicted” to drinking soda and caffeine, but found myself drinking it when going out to places- it was the SOCIAL NORM. I would instead ask for lemon in my waters, because it not only enhanced the taste, but lemon also has MANY great benefits to the health of our bodies- such as weight loss!
The greatest tool that I found along my journey to better health and happiness, has been my connection with crystals. Not only are they pretty to look at, but they’re uplifting & balancing. I love them! I’ve enjoyed traveling to different crystal stores, connecting with like-minded souls, exploring the world for crystals… everything about them has been an euphoric experience. (A blog post dedicated to my love for crystals will come later.. a book could really be written.) Some of my favorites include Amethyst, Fluorite, and Rose Quartz. But of course I love them all!
Today, I find myself in a place of comfort of WHO I AM. A few years into this spiritual journey, I can see how much has changed, how I’ve transformed. I know who I am, why I am here, and the gifts and abilities I hold in order to heal myself and the world. I can’t express enough how grateful I am, and how proud I am in myself. Many battles have been overcome and won. I’ve picked myself up from rock bottom, cried many tears, had to let go of many relationships.. but I don’t regret a thing! The lows are what push us to our highest potential. Our PURPOSE.
And this is only the beginning.

Tarot is a Divine tool, originating in 14th Century Europe, that’s used to receive answers to any confusion, struggle, or question by tapping into Universal energy. It is also a way to connect to source and our own intuition. In a deck, there are 78 cards consisting of Major and Minor Arcana. According to Tarot.com,
“The Major Arcana cards typically represent significant life events on a large scale, while the Minor Arcana cards deal with day-to-day life. The Minor Arcana includes four “suits” that each has a theme. Each suit is numbered one through 10, with four additional Court cards (Page, Knight, Queen and King).”
During a reading, the deck is shuffled by both the card reader & information receiver, to get both of their energies mixed in with the deck. There are different type of card pulls, and at Eye Empower, we currently provide a 3 card pull reading. This is a reading that offers insight into the past, present, and future. It’s simple, yet effective. Any question can be asked- from relationship issues major to life journeys.
